Abbey Road on the River

May 23-27, 2024

Despite some weather issues througout the weekend, we had an amazing festival! We heard from so many people that this was their favorite festival yet!

FESTIVAL RECAP

We started the weekend off with a Wednesday night party at the Pavilion featuring the music of Joan Burton, The Kukes and the Overly Brothers, but it was cut short due to weather.

Thursday, May 23 had some weather issues, but we had some great performances by The Black Ties, CMN Trio and new band The Pre-Amps.

We also had an enjoyable meet and greet with Don Dannemann and Mike Losekamp from the Cyrkle and Dean Torrence of Jan & Dean.

Unfortunately, both The Cyrkle and Jan & Dean’s Beach Party couldn’t go on because of the weather.

Luckily, we got to reschedule those two shows to the following afternoon, followed by Peaceful Easy Eagles tribute band, and they were all spectacular!

Friday, May 24

Friday, May 24 started with Beatles trivia, then The Cyrkle, Jan & Dean’s Beach Party and Peaceful Easy Eagles Tribute band.

Chris Nunley from The Royal Guardsmen got up on stage and sang “Snoopy and the Red Baron” into “Hang On Snoopy”.

Everywhere you turned there was amazing shows! It was so hard to decide what to watch between all the bands!

  • Live and Let Die featuring Tony Kishman,

  • Steve Sizemore’s Tom Petty show,

  • Union Jack’s Swinging 60’s show,

  • Jay Goeppner with the Black Ties “LennonRock”,

  • The English Channel’s British Invasion show,

  • The Blue Meanies “Beatles Cover Versions”

Closing the night was Classisctone’s “Beautiful Beatles” show.

The English Channel did the full Magical Mystery Tour album.

We ended the night with Classicstone’s Beatles #1 album show featuring The Black Ties, Gavin Pring & Neil Candelora of the Fab Four, Kevin Ashba, Jay Goeppner, Danilo Fiani & Felipe Coe of Some Other Guys, Diving Bell and many more special guests!

Sunday, May 26

On Sunday, May 26, we had a late start due to highly intense storms in the morning which knocked out two of our stages (C and C2) and a couple food booths which had to be rebuilt.

We moved the schedule around so that all the C shows were on B and opened at 4pm. We started the main stages with The Fab Four’s “60th Anniversary of Beatlemania” show.

Then we had a spectacular Elvis Presley double feature starring Tyler Christopher as early and leather suit Elvis and then Brooke Wright and the Impossible Dream band as the 70’s jumpsuit Elvis.

There was also Steve Sizemore’s Bruce Springsteen show, Penny Lane, Sunrise Jones, The Cryers, and many more!

Unfortunately, we were hit with more storms that evening so we had to move the Queen show by Classicstone to Monday evening.

Monday, May 27

Monday, May 27 had wonderful weather and everyone had a great time sitting on Watsons outdoor furniture in Pepperland Painted Park amongst the Abbey Road crosswalk, Peace tree, Sgt Pepper heads, “Be the T” AROTR letters, and art vendors while listening to the Pavilion bands: The Pre Amps, The Black Ties, Some Other Guys, then Classicstones’ Queen show.

Or they enjoyed sitting the grass amongst the Strawberry Fields listening to the bands on Stage B: Louisville, Brass & Electric, Doorway, The Daytrippers, and The Get Down.

Many bands ended up losing one or two shows this weekend and we thank them and all our fans for bearing with us through all the changes due to bad weather. But still…

A splendid time was had by all!

We heard over and over again that it was the best festival ever!
