Southern Indiana Scores Big: Abbey Road on the River Extends 10-Year Deal with Jeffersonville
Jeffersonville, IN (April 14, 2025) – When Abbey Road on the River producer Gary Jacob was in Jeffersonville last month, he didn’t expect the phone call that would solidify the future of the world’s largest Beatles-inspired music festival.
On the other end of the line was Jeffersonville Mayor Mike Moore with a simple but monumental question: "Gary, I heard you might be interested in extending your lease."
With the current agreement set to expire after this year’s festival, Jacob confirmed that conversations had been happening, but nothing had been settled.
"Well, how about 10 more years?" the Mayor asked.
Jacob replied, "Ten years sounds about right. If Paul and Ringo are still performing into their 80s, I figure at 76, I can keep going too,” Jacob said. “This festival belongs in Jeffersonville. The city, the fans, the spirit—it all comes together here in the most beautiful way. With this agreement, we can dream even bigger.”
The Mayor agreed, and just like that, a long term plan was born. Abbey Road on the River will remain in Jeffersonville through 2035 and beyond, thanks to a renewed 10-year partnership between the festival, the City of Jeffersonville, and Southern Indiana Tourism.
A Festival That’s Become a Tradition
Abbey Road on the River has become more than a music festival—it’s a tradition, a reunion, and a celebration of peace, love, and Beatles music. For nearly two decades, Jeffersonville’s Big Four Station Park has hosted fans from across the world each Memorial Day weekend, turning the city into a vibrant musical gathering place.
“This festival is part of Jeffersonville’s heartbeat,” said Mayor Mike Moore. “Abbey Road on the River brings people together, fills our city with joy, and gives us something to be proud of. It’s part of who we are now, and I’m thrilled it will continue for another decade.”
A Cultural and Economic Anchor
Abbey Road on the River is one of Southern Indiana’s top tourism events, generating millions of dollars in economic activity while supporting hotels, restaurants, and local shops.
“Abbey Road on the River is not just a festival—it’s a tourism powerhouse,” said Jim Epperson, Executive Director of Southern Indiana Tourism. “It puts our region on the map and gives people a reason to come back year after year.”
“Our parks and public spaces are part of what make Jeffersonville special,” added Paul Northam, Head of Parks & Recreation. “Abbey Road on the River is the crown jewel of our calendar, and we’re proud it’s here to stay.”
