Ep 16: Something About the Cryers with Joe Orlando

This week on Something Will Happen Melissa talks with Joe Orlando of the Cryers. The Cryers have been performing throughout the US and Canada since ‘91 and have been regulars at Abbey Road on the River for many years.

Joe tells Melissa the origins of the Cryers and the many talented performers that have been a part of the band throughout the years. He also tells about the various other musicians that he has traveled and performed with.

In their conversation, Joe highlights one of the unique assets of the band, Belle Liao. Belle, the band’s keyboardist, is a classically trained pianist with multiple degrees. She jumped from classical into the world of rock ‘n roll and fit right in.

Joe says the thing that stood out to him about the Beatles was the energy they brought with them into their performance. Joe explains how he inherited his love of music from his parent’s influence. The latin crooners of South America that his father listened to combined with the musical variety shows he watched with his mother all played a part in how he performs today.

Joe finishes the conversation by telling Melissa the things he loves about Abbey Road on the River. He says that AROTR has a family feel that most music festivals don’t have. He explains that it is clear AROTR puts the fans first when creating the festival. We couldn’t agree more.
