Ep 3: Something About Being a George Harrison Lookalike with Gavin Pring
In this episode of “Something Will Happen” we talk to the talented and long time Abbey Road on the River friend, Gavin Pring. If you like George Harrison you will appreciate Gavin’s interpretation. Even Sir Paul McCartney himself, once quipped “You look a little bit like George!”, to which Gavin responded “You look a little bit like Paul!”
Gavin, a Liverpool native, has been performing as a George Harrison lookalike for over 20 years. He has been performing as George with the Emmy award and two time Telly award winning group, the Fab Four since 2006. Gavin was handpicked by Cirque Du Soleil to provide motion capture as George Harrison at their 10 year anniversary of LOVE which remains the longest running Beatle related show on the Las Vegas strip. Gavin also created and performs a George centered tribute act, George Harry’s Son, which we will see in May.
During our conversation, Gavin recounts how he became involved doing George Harrison tribute acts, his history working with the Fab Four, and his time with Abbey Road on the River. We even learn that Gavin met his wife at AROTR! Gavin discusses the impact that the Beatles have had across the globe and what it feels like to be from Liverpool. He recalls some of his favorite performances over the years, and looks ahead to what he is excited to bring to AROTR in May.
For more information on Gavin or the rest of the Fab Four, follow them on Facebook and go to their website to find news, merch, and upcoming show dates!
PS, take a look at this performance from 2013 at the Muhammad Ali Center that Gavin mentions in this podcast. It really is a special moment between performer and audience. We can’t stop watching it! I'm Happy Just to Dance with You.
