Ep 2: Something About The Human Jukebox: Hal Bruce

For this episode of “Something Will Happen”, we interviewed longtime Abbey Road on the River performer, Hal Bruce, and learned why he is affectionately known as “the human jukebox.”

Hal has had an impressive career as a recording artist, songwriter, performer and producer. He has won numerous awards and been inducted into the Nova Scotia Country Music “Hall of Fame”, the Liverpool England Beatle Week “Hall of Fame”, and our own Abbey Road on the River Beatle Festival “Hall of Fame.”

While chatting with us, Hal reflected on how music influenced his life from an early age. He discussed the impact the Beatles had on his love of music and performing. While recounting the story of how he began performing for the Liverpool Beatle Week, we learned how he had to prove himself with a last minute, sink or swim performance. Hal then went on to reflect on his start with AROTR in 2003 and the years since.

We also learned in our talk with Hal about what he has up his sleeve for our upcoming AROTR festival in May. He mentioned including songs from other beloved bands of the time such as Fleetwood Mac and the Rolling Stones in his set. He hinted at playing these in an exciting, one-man, battle of the bands performance style. All we know is that we can’t wait to hear his performance at this year’s AROTR festival!

For more info on Hal, check out his website Hal Bruce. There, you can find photos, information, and access to Hal’s music. Don’t forget to purchase your tickets for May to see Hal’s performance!
