Ep 8: Something About Silly Love Songs
In the latest installment of Something Will Happen, Melissa is joined by guest host and Abbey Road staffer, Emily. In celebration of Valentine’s Day this week, our episode is all about love!
Melissa and Emily discuss the fact that the Beatles have used the word “love” 613 times throughout their catalog. They compare how the Beatles and other artists have been perceived around using the concept of love as a focal point in their music.
Melissa tells all about the story behind the song “All You Need is Love”. We learn how it was written for a broadcast show called Our World. The Beatles were asked to write a song that would be able to be understood around the world, and they responded in the most Beatle fashion, to talk about love.
Melissa and Emily both share their personal favorite love songs by the Beatles. They dive into the lyrics and tone of their chosen songs and really dig deep into what it is about the music of the Beatles that affects us all.
Melissa then tells us all about what makes the Love Show 2.0 that will be happening at AROTR in May so special. She shares her favorite part of the Love Show and why it is a can’t miss Abbey Road performance!
