Ep 13: Something About Beatles from Finland with Beatline
In this episode of Something Will Happen, Melissa talks to Juha of the band Beatline. Beatline is a 60´s Pop & Merseybeat group from Tampere, Finland, founded in 2007 and can be considered one of the top bands in its category in the Nordic countries. BEATLINE has played on many 60´s occasions and venues through the years. To name a few, in 2014 the band got the invitation to the Liverpool Beatleweek also playing at the famous Cavern Club a few times.
Although the popularity of the Beatles had waned while Juha was growing up in the 70’s and 80’s, he managed to cultivate a love for the band and their music on his own. He recalls how at his school, the kids were split between punk rock and 50’s rock music and he was the odd one out with his admiration of the Beatles.
Juha tells us how a Youtube video he made was able to get his foot in the door at Abbey Road on the River. An AROTR staff member had seen the video on Twitter, so when Beatline was reaching out to potential festivals to play, AROTR had already heard of them. They played the festival for their first year in 2018, and have become an Abbey Road staple ever since.
In addition to their Beatles and 60’s covers, Beatline also puts out their own original music. They have two albums out so far, “A Cup of Beatline” and “25 Hours a Day”, and have also been working on a third to be released soon!
Melissa and Juha discuss the coming festival and plans for new performances. They talk of a show that will include not only Beatline, but two other Nordic performers coming to Abbey Road this year. Juha talks about his ideas to incorporate some Nordic 60’s music that AROTR guests have not heard. Whatever they decide, it’s going to be a great show!
