Bonus Episode: Something About The Women of AROTR
On this special Bonus Episode of Something Will Happen, Melissa talks to a few of the women who make the festival happen! They discuss the ins and outs of preparing and executing Abbey Road on the River year after year.
Joining Melissa are 3 of the many key women of the AROTR staff. Mendy Frohlich is the Bar manager and has been with the festival 13 years. Her company is Cherry Red Events. Melanie Horn, the Box Office manager has been with AROTR 17 years. Ali Hawthorne, our PR specialist, has been with the festival 14 years with her company M2 Public Relations.
They discuss and try to pinpoint what it is that makes AROTR so special and unique compared to other music festivals. One of the things which stands out the most is the family feel of the festival. Our guests are well aware of the community and family friendly environment of being at the AROTR. That feeling extends behind the scenes as well. Bands, staff, vendors, and sponsors come together every year greeting each other with familiar faces.
Just about every person who contributes to this festival speaks of how there is something special about it that makes it feel like a home more than a job. Many on the staff have stories of how AROTR played a role during pivotal moments in their lives. A slew of lifelong friendships, relationships, and marriages have resulted from being involved with the festival.
Among other things, the women credit producer Gary Jacob and his adaptability for the lasting success of the festival. Gary has created an environment of collaboration with his staff that is unlike most music festivals. The staff works to create new experiences and improve upon the festival while honoring and maintaining what makes the festival great!
